みなさんこんにちは！
いよいよ、3月2日（日）に迫った、ルーツ&シューツユースカンファレンスについてのお知らせです。昨年に続き、横浜インターナショナルスクールとともに共催し、Roots & Shootsのグループが集まり、ストーリーテリングをします。
ユースカンファレンスの目的
🤝グループ同士が楽しく交流できること
👀互いの活動を通して学び合えること
🎉互いのアクションを温かくセレブレイトすること
🌳そしてルーツ&シューツに興味のある方が参加できる場にすることです！

楽しいワークショップも！
今年はプレゼンテーションの合間に、地球への愛を込めたワークショップを行います。
①和紙ハガキづくり
横浜インターナショナルスクールのルーツ＆シューツ グループは、テトラパックのリサイクルプロジェクトを行い、コレクティブインパクトをもたらしています。その活動の中で、紙パックからハガキも作ってチャリティ販売しています。今回、和紙ハガキを作る方法を教えてくれますので、一緒にやってみましょう！
②ミツロウラップづくり
プラスチック廃棄物を減らすためには、再利用可能な代替品を使うことは日々できるアクションの一つ！少しずつ積み重ねることで大きな影響を与えることができます。「森と動物」のルーツ＆シューツグループが蜜蝋ラップ作りをガイド！サンドイッチや野菜を包むなど、万能なミツロウラップを作ってみましょう。ミツロウは横須賀の養蜂場Earth Bee Farmさんのものを用い、ハギレは葉山のお洋服屋さんSunshine + Cloudさんから分けていただきました。
③Seeds of Hope~ヘチマの種を植えよう~
植物を育てることは、環境に良い簡単で楽しいアクションです。Sho Farmのヘチマの種と紙製の卵パックを使って、植木鉢を作り、育てていきましょう。ヘチマタワシを作るまで観察できたら最高！ 自然とつながり、種のパワーを知り、小さな行動が地球に大きな変化をもたらすことを一緒に発見しましょう。土は鎌倉で無料でシェア畑を開放している方さんから分けていただきました。そして今回、臨床美術士の𣕚木麻衣子さんが、特別な紙芝居を作成してくれました。植物を育てることが、人・動物・自然にとってどんなインパクトをもたらすことができるのか、一緒に考えていきましょう。
ルーツ&シューツのグループが自分たちの活動の中で行っていることのノウハウもシェア！ 作った和紙やミツロウラップ、植えたヘチマはお持ち帰りいただけます。
互いのアクションや学びをセレブレイトしましょう！ 新しい仲間を作りたいユース、若者をサポートするというアクションに参加したい大人たちなど、より多くの方のご参加をお待ちしています🐵🌱

The Roots & Shoots Youth Conference is fast approaching on Sunday, March 2! Just like last year, we are co-hosting this event with Yokohama International School, bringing together Roots & Shoots groups to share their stories.
Objectives of the Youth Conference
🤝 To foster fun and meaningful interactions between different groups
👀 To learn from each other’s activities and experiences
🎉 To celebrate each group’s actions and achievements warmly
🌳 To create a space where those interested in Roots & Shoots can participate

Exciting Workshops!
This year, in between presentations, we will be hosting interactive workshops that show love for our planet!
① Washi Postcard Making
The Roots & Shoots group at Yokohama International School is working on a Tetra Pak recycling project, creating collective impact. As part of their efforts, they repurpose paper cartons to make charity postcards! In this workshop, they will teach us how to make washi postcards—let’s try it together!
② Beeswax Wrap Making
Reducing plastic waste starts with reusable alternatives! Small, everyday actions can lead to big impacts. The Roots & Shoots group “Mori to Doubutsu” will guide us in making beeswax wraps, a sustainable option for wrapping sandwiches, vegetables, and more!
Beeswax: Sourced from Earth Bee Farm in Yokosuka.
Fabric Scraps: Provided by Sunshine + Cloud, a fashion brand in Hayama.
③ Seeds of Hope – Let’s Plant Loofah Seeds!
Planting is one of the easy and meaningful environmental actions! Using loofah seeds from Sho Farm and paper egg cartons, we will make eco-friendly planters and start growing our own plants. Imagine watching & journaling your loofah grow and maybe you might even turn it into a sponge! Connecting with nature, learning the power of seeds, and understanding how small actions can create big changes—this is what this workshop is all about!
Soil: Generously shared by a community farm in Kamakura.
Special Storytelling: Created by artist MaikoTamoki, exploring how growing plants brings positive impacts to people, animals, and nature.
You’ll also get to take home the washi postcards, beeswax wraps, and planted loofah seeds you make during the workshops!
Let’s celebrate our actions and learnings together!
